I recently spoke with a friend who inspired me on this topic. My friend, whom I will call faithful to the insurance company, said, "I have been in my insurance company for 52 years and when I call, they jump." We have discussed this belief for a while because I wanted to gain some more understanding from his point of view. For the purposes of this week's topic this is done in terms of being in CA, taking into account CA insurance legislation. If you are from another country, your laws may vary and I am not a lawyer, so this is not legal advice.
In 1988, voters in California accepted proposal 103, which was proposed for insurance reform. As I understand it, this law, aimed primarily at regulating rates, protects insurance users by preventing the use of discriminatory tactics by insurance companies. This means that insurance companies must serve a one-day customer with the same service as a 52-year-old customer. If the insurance company provides preferential services to the senior client over the new client, the insurance department will receive fines and penalties in case of investigation of such complaints. As a rule, fines are much higher than the costs of the customer. That is why insurers, regardless of their tenure, refuse to treat customers. So for my friend, although the company listens kindly, her policy is the same for him as for a new customer. When they jump for him, they jump for everyone. As an insurance buyer you have to take into account that your profession is the same regardless of how long you have been working in a certain company.
